cycling trip :)

went cycling with youlong n kenneth last sat after my work. met ken 1st at yew tee to pick up his bikes before meeting you long. :) we cycled to hoi yi's hse to visit her as she jus had operation on her ankle. ( heard tt her ligaments were sewn on her bones. ouch. ) her dad was kind enuff to call for kfc delivery so e 3 of us had to gobble down e food. haha. went to play hy's yangqin after tt. it has been a loooong time since i touched it. reminiscence. when i started to play back e concert songs with hy's guidance. haha.

after leaving hy's hse, we cycled all e way to fajar to look for min n belle at e shop n save they were workin in. too bad they oreadi went home by e time we reached. haha. so we called them up n onli managed to persuade belle to meet us back at LOT 1 for a chat. hate e route ard bukit panjang plaza. there were pple all over e pavement n i almost bump into a few. :( some wont budge even when i rang e bell furiously. guess they expect us to cycle along e grass. wat's worse was tt i even bumped into a lorry while cycling on e pedestrian crossing. it jus came out from nowhere while i was cycling across e rd. yup. was darn embarrassed n quickly cycled away b4 e driver came out of his lorry. heh.

enjoyed my cycling trip with yl n ken. :) finally gt to xperience how it feels like to nite cycle. hopefully more of such trips in e future. though i hope we cn cycle on people-less pavement. heh.

cny eve

haha. i'd a different cny eve this yr. went for some seriously very late shopping with denise in e afternoon at chong pang. cos i realised i have no shoes to go with my clothes e next day. so i rushed down to see e remaining shoe shops tt are still open n bought a pair of black pumps. haha. walked to northpoint with denise after tt to get leggings. in e end, i ended up buying my adidas tote bag!!!! WEE!!! ( stroke off from wish list) :)

weekly updates II

haha yup. weekly updates again. it has been a more exciting week as compared to last week. jus returned from cycling with you long n kenneth from yew tee to bukit panjang. short route but tiring enough for me who had nt cycled since march 2008. quite a number of bumps occured along e way but i FINALLY gt a taste of nite cycling. jus like wat yl said it's nice havin e nite and cool breeze while u cycle along e almost people-less pathway. yup. will dedicate 1 entry for tt tmr!! hee. :D

MONDAY

mon was a normal day at imh jus tt i had lunch with boss jolly. she shared with me some work xperiences and com skills. it's always nice talking to her. :) yup. gt a 2 wks temp job for denise at e finance dept thru jolly. haha. denise took up e offer after much thought over the starhub one. cn i expect a treat in 2 weeks time? heh. :p

TUESDAY

i'm starting to abhor tuesday. really. tues work at clinic cn really drive me nuts. me and carms cnt seem to handle e patients unlike on mon nite with e presence of kim geok. but she cnt be there with us all the time. we nid to be independent n wat if she stop working on mon nite as well? argh. oh well, i don wanna think of tt nw. :( yup. gt scolded by e patient cos i made her wait for 30 mins onli to tell her tt she cnt buy e medication she required. i admit tt i was at fault for neglecting her but i didnt did it on purpose. there was literallty too much stuff to be done by e 2 of us n we couldnt have e time for those tt request for medication onli. wat's worse is tt she scolded me in front of e fertility consultant n e crowd of patients who kept standing in front of e counter. :( hais. how much more embarrassing cn it get. e pressure is too great to surmount when i see e no of pple standin in front of e counter while i'm busy typing their medication at my fastest speed. ya. i cn onli say tues is always e longest day of my entire week n i onli left clinic tt nite at 2215hr. drained n with e accounts nt tallied. :(

WEDNESDAY

today is e 1st day i sat at the counter as jerlane is back from her usa trip. nt veri used to it yet. went to eat with denise at a taiwan restaurant for lunch near hougang green. e food tasted nt bad and filling. :) nite at clinic with mel was great. it's a great contrast from ytd as there were less than 10 patients. it was my 1st time xperiencing such a thing. haha.

THURSDAY

was late for work today. haha. cos i tried out a new route to imh with denise. but e bus was stuck in a jam along e way so we ended up late. went to causeway with denise after work to look for a new pair of shoes. but couldnt find any pair tt i like. n my fave mondo ballet shoes is gg to spoil soon!!! noticed tt my left shoe sole is fallin off. :(

FRIDAY

today is a bad shoe day. :( in order not to let history repeat itself like my 1st day of wk, i wore my sis's havannas heels to work. ( my ballet flats may jus come off any moment when i step out of hse) it was e lowest heels i could find in e cabinet. yet, i'd a hard time tryin to walk properly. cand will probably jus laugh at me when she read this. haha. missed my ballet flats while i tried to walk from my hse to e int.
finally completed stringing up those documents in e compacter rm today. :) cnt wait for my next project. boss jolly knocked off particularly early today. at 1500hr. haha. everyone left e dept at 1730hr. while i could onli leave at 1800hr. but i gt a box of pineapple tarts from uncle tony n a piece of apricot cake from jennifer for free!! hee.
rushed back to yishun with denise after work for reunion dinner!! haha. reached home at 1930hr onli to realise tt everyone else at home was waiting for me. felt kinda guilty tt i'd gone to return bks n shopped ard with denise at northpoint. but it was a warming meal with fourth aunt and her family. :)
went ktv with sis n cousin after reunion dinner at yishun safari. sang till 0100hr. rushed back home with sis as both of us had work e next day. hee. but it was a fun gals nite-out with them. though sis kept singing some oldies. haha.

weekly updates

MONDAY

went to work as usual @imh. my 3rd day of work since last thurs. continue my routine work of collating e survey results. i'm so "trained" tt i cn moved thru e columns of excel n key in e answers on e sheet accordingly w/o scrollin up to see e respective titles. haha. my eyes gt darn tired by e time it reached 1630hr. finally end of day @imh. but i still gotta rush off to catch my bus to amk clinic. changed n went to take e opp bus 159 from where i alighted every morning onli to find out in horror tt it terminated at seng kang int. YA. S.K. INT. and e time is oreadi 1705hr. i'm like given onli 25 mins to reach e clinic. which is IMPOSSIBLE for someone with little knowledge of bus directions. so, i went to take mrt. felt my heart bleedin when i came out from e amk stn, after seeing e fare. ( imagine e no of stops from s.k to d.b to amk) ya. but i was late so no choice. :( reach e clinic onli at 1800hr. which means i literally received 1/2 an hr lesser pay tt day. :( checked with gavin onli to find out tt i took e bus e wrong direction. =.= tt costed me ard 5 bucks. yup. it's a costly day nt to mention tiring too as we had problems with e accounting tt day too.

TUESDAY
it's a routine day at imh. nth much to talk abt. but tuesday is e 1st time me and carmela took charge of e clinic w/o e presence of e seniors. i was darn worried cos i had been there onli for a mth n with nt much time spent there each wk. luckily i had e company of carms. (: it was a hectic day n we were so busy tt we didnt get sufficient time to set float n do e accounting. but luckily e accounts tally n we survived! jus like wat e doc told us. haha. i'm glad!! :D




WEDNESDAY
still routine day at imh. finally met melissa over at e clinic today. she was jus like wat kim geok described: short hair, with spects. haha. n she's from aj too!! jus like emelene. haha. mel is 1 yr senior while eme is 2 yrs senior. (: ate e specialty she bought back from her hometown indonesia. dried mangoes coated with sugar. it tasted nt bad. it was nice working with mel. we talked abt everything literally. jus gt a little upset over e locim doc. :( well, i jus had to admit i was plain unlucky to receive such an unusual call n apparently, my reaction to it didnt please e doc at all. yup. he did e usual thing: email-ing back to e doc to tell him e wrong stuff tt i did. oh well.



THURSDAY
yup. finally completed e collation of ALL e 1410 surveys within a wk!! wee! finally i get to do other stuff instea of facin e com for straight 8 hrs everyday. my eyes may jus rot. haha. but my next project didnt sound exciting at all: filing n stringing past yr files. haha. but it's definitely better than collating. hee. n i found out smth realli interestin today: my boss, jolly, rides to work! yup. a red motorbike. heard it from her personally. i got so shocked. it oso answered my query y she never wear dresses/skirts to work. haha. but it's darn cool! haha.
finally get to meet mum after 3 days. didnt get to see her from mon to wed cos she's out when i wake up n she's asleep when i'm back from e clinic. haha.




FRIDAY
nth much on fri. continue stringing n filing. n got loads of cuts on my left arm due to e files.

silent witness

had been reading two forensic books recently. jus completed them ytd nite. :) one of it is entitled: modern methods of forensic science n e other: silent witness.

after readin e books, i realised tt e human body is really a great creation. there are actually many parts of e body which cn be used by forensic pathologists and anthropologists. the bones n teeth of human body in particular are really useful for determining gender, age n even stature.

jus wanna shared some stuff i read (summary):

1) determining gender

skull, pelvic bones and even e chin can be used to determine e gender for an unidentified body. for example: males have narrower pelvic bones and square chins while females have flared pelvic bones to accomodate child bearing and pointed chins.

2) determining age

teeth and e rate of ossification of long bones such as arms n legs cn be used to determine e age of e vicitim. for instance, pple below 2o have 20 growing teeths and lack premolars as well as e 3rd molar tooth (wisdom tooth). by determining e rate of growth of e teeth, e age cn be made known. however, this does nt apply to those above 20 as they have ceased in teeth growth.

for adults above 20, usually aging and degeneration of bones is used, in particular e public symphysis is examined as this area undergoes metamorphic change from 18 years onwards. wat's more interesting is tt after 35 years old, we will have a small bony growth on our vertebral spine which cn oso be used to determine e age of e deceased. really learnt a whole lot abt e human body structure n how anthropology helped in providing identification. :)

3) determining stature (height)

yup. u may think tt by measuring e entire skeleton, we cn get e height rite? i oso tot so initially. but we cnt always expect a complete body in times of accidents. so wat's more powerful is e fact tt anthropologist cn determine e stature by jus measuring portions of arms n legs or even jus e vetebral spine. cool rite?

e 2nd book, silent witness is even more interesting. it featured different US real life cases n how forensic science is used to help solve e crimes. i even read a particular case when this man was waxed after his death n made into a dummy. he was used as a stage prop n passed down over many years until "it" became so worn out tt his arm fell off during 1 of e setting of a show and revealed his bones. onli then did pple realised tt he was a real person. pretty shocking ah? haha. i oso read abt cases when e murderers disfigured e victims or soaked them in barrels of acid in an attempt to hinder idenification. however, tt didnt happen at all. as e enamel ( a hard thin Ca containing layer ard e tooth) and bones helped e forensic scientists identify e victims. (:

i even read abt how pple in e past relate particular physical features to particular crimes which obviously caused alot of innocent pple to be jailed. haha. i guess humans jus go to all kind of extent tryin to solve cases. yup. certainly enjoyed readin these 2 books. like forensic science even more. ( except those gross photos i saw in e books. but i guess it's inevitable in this field. haha)

yup. went to nyp open hse with denise n kenneth last sat.. jus to watch denise's felicia chin. haha. walked all e way from e clinic to nyp jus to pass time so that i dont have to wait for both of them for so loooong. denise even went to highlight her hair. wonder if it's for felicia chin. hee. :D had lunch over at their koufu. nt much stuff to eat by e time we reached there. only had to settle for some rice.

saw felicia chin and e entire gang of campus superstar contestants walked in nyp. felicia even smiled at us!! ( guess she realised we were staring at her. haha.) although i'm nt really a great fan of e superstar saga but it's e 1st time i ever attend such event and get to meet so many hosts all at e same time. saw e other hosts as well: yuan shuai, pornsak n li teng. e entire program was rather funny bcos of pornsak n li teng. they were really gd at lightening up e atmosphere there with their jokes. :) e contestants could sing rather well too. enjoyed e program although it's reaching almost 1500hr by e time it ended.

went to shop for CNY clothes at bugis after tt. finally bought a dress and 2 tees. :) after tt we walked all e way from bugis to far east with kenneth's directions. haha. but we gt too hungry while walking so settled down for dinner near somerset. haha. e walk is long but i guess it's great exercise as well. n best of all, we saved ard a dollar of mrt fare. hee. :D

haha yup. this entry is specially dedicated to fifi. my sis's bf, calvin's new dog. n he's onli a few mths old. heard from my sis tt fifi jus arrived at calvin's hse last mon. n e husky (cody) over at calvin's hse has been neglected ever since fifi's arrival. haha. poor cody. but i guess it's rather hard nt to shower love n attention to such a cute dog like fifi. :) heard tt fifi even chased after his own tail. haha. yup. below are some of his pics. :)
